Congrats to all of our All State players. They represented our band program very well in Mobile last week. Congrats to T. Gwaltney, Z. Apol and M. Monette for receiving superior ratings at the State Solo Festival in Mobile! Congrats to Z. Apol and T. Gwaltney for making the finals at the State Solo festival!

Additionally, our Jazz Ensemble was just phenomenal at the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame's student jazz festival last Monday... They received a superior rating for their performance... They were "Amazing"!


Spring Trip

The spring band trip is this week to the Smoky Mountain Music Festival. We need all spring trip payments turned in ASAP Please contact me with any questions, or commitments.. The trip itinerary is available for download here.

Spring Trip Medical Information...

If your student will be taking medicines on the spring trip, the authorization form will need to be completed and turned in to the school nurse, Tammye H. Lantrip. Medications will need to be at the school no later than 1 week prior to departure in order to get the necessary paperwork completed. Medications will not be accepted on the day of the trip!


Save the Date...

Band Banquet 2011OMHS Band Banquet will be May 11th at the Wynfrey. Doors will open at 6:30 P.M. ~ banquet to begin at 7:00. All band, dance, and color guard members are encouraged to attend this event to celebrate another great year of the Spirit of Cahaba Band!

Senior Parents please be reminded to send your senior student's baby / childhood pictures by email (high resolution selection) to Paula Maddox, or hand deliver to Chris Odom, junior student.


Checks Sent for Band Payments...

Please make sure that all checks sent for band payments are written in black or blue ink. According to Shirley Chumley, OMHS Bookkeeper, the bank will not accept a check written in another color. A check not written in black or blue ink will not be deposited and a replacement check will have to be sent. Thanks for your cooperation.

Wind Ensemble Auditions...

Wind Ensemble Auditions will be held the week of May 7-11. Each section will be assigned a day based on the number of students who sign up. Current High School Students should sign up on the board in the front of the band room.

Rising 9th graders should sign up on the list with Mrs. Holmes at the middle school.

Retirement Reception!

Retirement reception for Mr Duren will be May 20th from 2-4.

"Need Volunteers to Help with the Refreshments for Mr. Duren's Retirement Party" If you would like to volunteer to help with the set up and refreshments for Mr. Duren's Retirement Party, please contact Theresa Cook,( or 251-623-3123.

Cartridges for Kids

We are still collecting cartridges. There is a box in the band room, also will take cell phones. If you have a lot of cartridges from work I can meet you or you can drop them off at my house.
